This stylish rocking chair is a classic piece that will move from your baby's bedroom to the lounge room.
Back when I was pregnant with my first child, I decided that although I would buy as many secondhand things that I could for the baby, like a baby bath and a bouncer, I really wanted to invest in a brand new rocking chair. My reasoning was that I would spend so much time sitting in it breastfeeding and cuddling my baby, that I wanted something really comfortable and special.
I also wanted something that would take pride of place in another part of my home, even after it was no longer needed in the nursery.
I did my research and tested many models. I didn't have any luck snatching up the famed IKEA or Aldi rocking chairs that are cult items on the mum circuit, so I went to Adairs and I decided to get the Hampton Grey Rocking Chair and Foot Stool Set. Of course Adairs products are more expensive (this chair is $799), but it was high quality, in stock and best of all I didn't have to assemble it, like I would have with an Ikea chair!

Nearly four years, and another baby later, it is still going strong and is one of my favourite pieces of furniture in our house. The grey colour is neutral, so it ties in with all other colours, and it's really comfortable which makes it a perfect breastfeeding chair, either with or without the foot stool. I keep a small cushion next to the chair for extra comfort and find it really relaxing for late night feeds, so much so that I've fallen asleep in it a few times, especially during bouts of sickness where I want to keep a close eye on my boys.
Sometimes a piece of furniture can be just as much a sentimental item as it is functional, and this rocking chair will always remind me of the nights I spent cuddling my babies close to my chest and slowly rocking them back and forth. It's something I'll cherish for a long time.
