Ambiano Air Fryer from ALDI

Frying can be a healthy option, with the ALDI Ambiano Air Fryer.

There are lots of kitchen appliances that are available to us in 2020, and a lot of them are unnecessary, but an air fryer is not one of them.

Iíve had an air fryer for a number of years and I absolutely love cooking with it. Any food that is suitable for frying gets chucked in there, such as chips, nuggets, crumbed calamari and other fish -- even dim sims and roast potatoes!

If youíre not familiar with an air fryer, itís pretty simple. As the name suggests, the fryer uses circulating hot air to cook the food, instead of submerging and cooking food in oil. The food is placed in a cooking chamber, and the heating element generates the heat, which is pushed around the chamber by a fan.

I recently had to replace my much loved and worn air fryer when the handle broke, so I decided to give the ALDI branded Ambiano Air Fryer a try.

I know you're probably thinking "Oh she's an Aldi mum," but the reason I chose their model is because it is one of the most affordable brands available. At $39.99 it is even less expensive than the Kmart air fryer (although it is a bit smaller), and the quality is excellent.

My favourite things to cook in it are quick lunches for the kids, such as chicken nuggets or crumbed calamari. I donít have to wait for the oven to pre-heat, I just place the food in the chamber, set the timer and temperature and away we go.

I also like to chuck in a few roast potatoes and cook them before I put them in the oven to crisp up. This saves a lot of timeÖand oil! Our food isnít covered in lashes of oil once cooked, so itís generally healthier. Iíve never been a big fan of overly-greasy food.

Halfway through the cooking process I turn the food over with tongs, or give the handle a little shake to make sure everything is cooking evenly.

It has a capacity of 3 litres, but we try not to overload it so that everything cooks quickly and evenly. The most current model is 2.5L and I think it would be perfect for a family of 4, like mine.

It's easy to clean -- we place ours in the dishwasher and have never had a problem with getting it clean. You could also use warm, soapy water.

This air fryer has certainly saved me a lot of time, effort and of course, oil, cooking for the family. It's one of our most used household appliances and we look forward to getting a lot more use out of it.

Look out for the Ambiano Air Fryer at your local ALDI store during their Special Buy periods.
